The former Prime Minister says ideological capture of the state will not yield to compromise — only repeal, new personnel, and parallel institutions.

In a Day 2 interview that quickly became a portal favourite, Liz Truss rejected the idea that conservatives can win by polite compromise with institutions she says are ideologically captured. "We have to be pirates," she told the host — more punk rock than managerial.

Her programme: a great repeal bill aimed at laws she listed as rigging the state (Climate Change Act, Constitutional Reform Act, Human Rights Act, Equality Act); replace blocking personnel in the civil service and agencies; and build parallel media, movements and private-sector incubators instead of relying on rational persuasion alone.

She argued young people are naturally anti-establishment because asset inflation and housing costs have locked them out — making pirate politics a recruiting message, not just a metaphor.
